How to Pickle Peppers

The Editors

Interested in pickling? See how to pickle peppers in this video! Pickled peppers are a great way to preserve your garden harvest. If you’re a beginner pickler, you’ll be surprised how easy this is.

Use any type of pickle from sweet to hot or a mix. These pickles will keep in the pantry up to a year. Great on sandwiches, in pasta salads, and just a nice treat on a cold winter’s day!

Please note the following:

  • You need to sterilize the jars and the lids before use, however, you no longer need to sterilize the lids because lids should always be new. Just wash and dry.
  • After filling your jars, make sure that you leave “head space” at the top of your jar (1/2 inch from the top of jar).
  • Boil/process the pint jars for 10 minutes and quart jars for 15 minutes.

Why play distracting background music on a video that you're trying to hear what they say? It's unnecessary and annoying.

How old is his video? There are so many mistakes in it. No sterilizing needed if HB or PC more then 10 min. NEVER, NEVER press down on lids when they come out of the pot.

#1 Recipe calls for a ratio of almost 1:1 of water to vinegar. Video calls for a 2:1 ratio of water to vinegar. It will make a difference.
#2 Recipe tells you to add salt, sugar and garlic to jar, then peppers. Does not tell you to make a brine, which the video does.
What is the correct ratio?
To Brine or not brine?
Thanks,
Sandi

Hi, Sandi. We recommend using the ingredients for the recipe that are found on the recipe page, but to follow the video’s instructions for making a brine. Sorry for the confusion.
