How to Plant, Grow, and Care for Lilac Shrubs

Hi,
I planted a Lilac bush in the early spring in Denver. It's been an extremely hot summer. I've done my best to water at least weekly, but it doesn't look like it's doing so well. The leaves have small brown spots on them and some are curled at the edges. It hasn't grown any taller since I've planted it. What should I do?!
Thank you for the help,
Brooke
Hi, Brooke, Any plant needs time to adapt to a new location, so it’s not a big surprise that it has not grown much. Your watering may be a good plan but it may not be addressing the problem. Did you do a soil test? Did you improve the soil? Lilacs like a slightly alkaline soil (pH 6.5 to 7; below or above this range could cause problems, e.g., failure to thrive) and lots of organic matter (not just any “dirt” will do). We hope you find a solution here.
Hi, I have bought a linden tree in October, kept it inside until the end of April, was doing really well, a lot of leaves big and dark green, beautiful!
I moved it outside and slowly lost all the leaves and whatever was left they were small and brown spotted.
I was watering twice a week, half sunny place.
I am not sure what to do now, there is no foliage coming, can I have some advice please?
Thank you,
Diana
Hi I Have a Madam Lemoine plant in a pot the leaves all curl over it is still green can you tell me why they are curling Many Thanks
It could be an issue related to watering. Check that you are not under- or overwatering the plant—both are easy to do with potted plants!
