2022 First Snow Contest

We have officially received our first snowfall of the season. Thank you to everyone who entered our 2022 First Snow Contest! 

Update: The first snow has fallen! The date of the first snowfall was Monday, December 12. Winners will be contacted in the coming days. Thank you to everyone who entered!

When is the “first snowfall” in Dublin, New Hampshire, the snowy village of The Old Farmer’s Almanac? To qualify as a real snowfall, there are two conditions:

1. There must be 2 inches of snow so it truly covers and blankets the ground!
2. The snow must stick for at least 24 hours! 

Here are a few hints to help you guess a date:

1. Look at the Almanac Web cam to see where the snow is falling.

   

2. Keep an eye on those short-range forecasts and long-range predictions.
    
3. Consider the “first snow” dates from past years:

• November 26, 2021
• December 7, 2020
• December 1, 2019
• November 15, 2018
• December 9, 2017
• December 12, 2016
• December 30, 2015
